Can I take my liquid makeup in my backpack on the plane?
Im going on vacation to Brazil on Saturday. I have a suitcase I'm checking in, and two carry-ons. One carry-on is a suitcase that's going in the overhead bin. The other is a backpack that I plan to put under my seat. I want to keep my makeup bag in the backpack. The items I have in my makeup bag are:
-Five mascaras
-Three little makeup packs that come with eyeshadow, blush, and Lip Gloss
=Two powder Foundations ( .28 oz & .49 oz)
-One liquid foundation (1 oz)
-Lip Gloss
-Gel Eyeliner
-Eyeliner
-Eyeshadows
I have put the liquid foundations and the five mascaras in little plastic bags. Can I still keep them in my backpack or do I have to put them in my suitcase? And, any extra info on the other makeup items?
IF you want to take these in either of the bags that you take into the cabin of the plane, then:
Everything that is liquid, gel, lotion, paste or cream needs to go into a single, 1 qt. zip lock bag. Those things cannot be spread around in several different bags. You can only take 1 bag with liquid items, and it must be able to close normally when all of those items are inside it.
The powders do not need to be in that zip lock bag. Solids like deodorant do not need to be in the bag.
Lip gloss, mascaras, gel eyeliner, eyeliner all sound like things that need to be in the zip lock bag. I assume that the eyeshadow and the blush are powders, so you can put those anywhere.
The sizes that you mention are fine. The limit for liquid items is 3.4 ounces (100 ml) per each container.
The makeup bag is not suitable for the liquid, gel, paste and so on items. when you go through the security check point. Those items must all be in the 1 qt zip lock. After you get past the check point, then you can sort them back into the makeup bag or wherever else you want them.
NOTE: All of those items can go into a checked bag, without limits on size. If it is simpler to do that, then that's fine.
