Help choosing a mascara?
I'm of a fair complexion. I have blue-gray eyes. My eyebrows and eyelashes are both a light brown. My lashes are also very straight and fairly short. On my bottom lids, the lashes are colorless and I usually just use liner instead of even attempting to put mascara on those poor things. lol.
I've tried all kinds of mascaras before, but nothing has given me a lasting effect (maybe an hour or two of lift). What would give me the most lift without clumping, considering I already have straight, pale, short lashes?
I should note that I don't wear makeup every day. Usually just when I go out. I'm in college, and usually just wake up, shower, throw some clothes on and go to class. haha.
Alrighty. Here we go:
For starters, I am a mascara junkie. I collect them all from drug-store to Mary-Kay.
Here is a list of my personal favorites adjusted to the needs you are looking for:
1. Rimmel Sexy Curves. This packs it all. Curls, Lifts, Volumizes, the works.
2. Rimmel Lash Maxxx. This is really a different sort of mascara. It uses the effect of a comb like brush instead of your regular brush types. It's the best mascara for people who absolutely HATE clumping.
3. Max Factor Volume Couture. This coats well, doesn't flake and hardly clumps. It also lifts lashes very nicely
4. Lash Blast. This works really well although it's not always my favorite because the wand is a little clumsy to handle. But the formula and the brush is really great.
5. Lash Blast Length. Because you said you were a college student who doesn't wear a lot of makeup, this is really just because it's an everyday, not in your face, easy to apply mascara. It lengthens your lashes without looking too overdone and it doesn't flake at all. Also, its really really really gentle. This is one of my favorite mascaras when I'm in a hurry or don't feel like getting up. I don't have to worry about my eyes getting flakes in them or having raccoon eyes by mid-day. It's also really easy to take off. In an analogy sort, it's like the no-more-tangles of the mascara market.
Anyway, those are some of my top mascaras. I also like Maybelline Lash Stilletto and Colossal (beware the smell though...it's like stale beer almost), As well as L'Oreal Voluminous (the original...pretty clumpy though)

P.S. Another tip that may help you, is checking youtube or a site called Makeup Alley for mascara reviews. On Makeup Alley, there is reviews for virtually ANY makeup product you can think of and on Youtube you can see the mascara or whatever product you want in action as well as hear other consumer's own reviews of the product and their likes and dislikes.
