How to Achieve a Natural Make Up Look
Whilst certain occasions call for full-on glamour, false lashes and flame red lipstick can be a little much for everyday. In fact, most people who wear make-up every go for a natural make-up look; not only is it less time consuming to achieve (which is perfect when you're in a rush in the morning), but it can also look more professional in an office environment. Ideally you want it to look like you're wearing no make-up at all, so people think you are naturally that gorgeous.
Natural-looking make-up is easy to achieve when you know how. Here's how to do it right.
Daily maintenance
Natural make-up looks best when you are otherwise well polished. To make sure your eyebrows are always tidy leave your tweezers by your bathroom mirror at all times so you can whip out strays whenever you spot them. Also make sure your skin is kept clean by exfoliating regularly; this will help to avoid spots and blemishes.
Skin
Choose a light foundation for day-to-day wear, preferably one with Sun Protection Factor as this will help prevent sun damage. As you'll be wearing it all day long a moisturising foundation is advisable. Aim for one as close to your natural skin tone as possible and apply lightly with a make-up sponge or the tips of your (clean) fingers. Alternatively you could use a tinted moisturiser. If you don't want to invest in a new product, simply mix a little of your current foundation with your favourite moisturiser. Add more or less foundation depending on the level of coverage you desire.
Cheeks
If you're only using a light base then you may not need any blusher, as your natural glow will still come through. If you prefer to add a little colour to your cheeks avoid shades that are too dark. Use a little bronzer if you are olive skinned or a peachy pink if you are paler. Use a large brush in light sweeping motions to avoid concentrated areas of colour and focus attention along the cheekbone. Alternatively use a little cream blusher for a dewy glow.
Eyes
For a really natural look, clear mascara is sufficient to separate and define your lashes. Alternatively, go for a dark brown shade if you are fair, or black mascara if you have dark hair. This is all you need for a natural look, though you may wish to emphasise your eyes a little more with a soft eye pencil along the lash line at the outer corners of your eyes.
Lips
Lipstick is a little high maintenance for al all-day look. Instead simply use a lip balm or a tinted lip-gloss. Try blending just a dab of lip colour with your lip balm for just a tint of colour. Keep your lips in tip-top condition by exfoliating and moisturising them regularly.
