Were is the best place to look at someone with a false eye or Crazy eye?
Do you look at the good eye? do you look at there forehead? do you look away? do you look at the floor?
One of my influential teachers suggested that when we need to speak in public, or talk to someone we are shy or uncomfortable around, (job interviewer perhaps) one way to get over the fear or uneasiness is when you talk to that person, look just above their eyes, at the part in their hair or at their hairline.
Because there is usually a little bit of distance between you and the person you are speaking to, they usually cannot tell that you are not actually looking at them directly in the eye. When they look back at your eyes, they can't tell that your eyes are actually focused and concentrating on something just above theirs. To them, they think you are looking directly at them.
Unless you are having a staring contest, of course you should blink on occassion, look down or away once in a while, but then bring your eyes right back up to their hair again. Follow this tip, and then just carry on a conversation with that person, as if they had no disability. Talk to them and treat them just like you would anybody else.
People with disabilities don't want you to feel sorry for them, or treat them differently, or put them on a Pedestal. They're not after any special treatment, other than to be able to function in society. Most prefer to be treated the same as you would anybody else. They don't want you to feel awkward or uncomfortable around them.
