My contacts are hurting my eyes.?
I have been wearing contacts for about a month and a half. They are the two week disposable ones. Yesterday, it was time to throw out the old lenses. I opened a new pair and had a hard time getting them in. When I do put these ones in, my eyes are in enough pain that I cannot keep them open. It feels like I have lots of eyelashes in my eyes. I have not ever had such discomfort when putting in my contacts. The pain does not go away, even after 10-15 minutes. I don't want to throw this pair away and try on another pair. Is there anything I can do to make it stop hurting? Is the problem with my eyes or the contacts?
TAKE THEM OUT NOW ( if you haven't already). The pain is your body letting you know something is wrong.
Check the new lenses. Are they in the correct eyes? Are the ripped? Are they inside out in your eye?
Or perhaps your eyes are the problem. If you've had discomfort with the other lenses then you may need a different brand of contacts. Or a different contact solution.
Also, don't sleep in your lenses if you can avoid it ( even if they say you can). It will help keep your eyes healthy.
Whatever you do, DO NOT keep lenses in your eye if you are in pain. If the lenses do not appear defective but still hurt to put in then give your eyes a few days without lenses. Then try again. If that doesn't work then you will have to open a new pair.
If NONE of that makes it better then you need to go back to see your Optometrist. You also need to go back if you see spots, your eyes become more painful, swollen, etc.
