Makeup Help for Teens?!?
Hello. ((: I'm a teenager & I'm just starting to use/wear makeup. All I'm going for is just an everday natural, fresh makepu look. I just wanna get to know the basics before I start using it & making a big mistake...
○ I'm light skinned or (pale) I have medium brown hair & dark brown eyes
○ I have a few blemishes/pimples. But I'm very red around my cheek area.
○ I prefer using only the basic stuff...such as, Concealer ( liquid or mineral??) Powder and a little bit of mascara ( nothing like eyeliner or bright eye shadows) Which do u think would work best?
○ Would you prefer foundation or powder for a young girl like me? Some ppl think foundation is too cakey.
○ How can I prevent my mascara from clumping?
○ Which makeup brands do you think work bets for light-skinned, teens? (I'm currently using L'oreal bare Naturale) I also like Clinique, Covergirl, & Maybelline.
○ Is it ok if I use lotion instead of moisturizer?

Hey! Well, for starters I would go to your local department store with a makeup counter (macy's,sephora,etc) and ask them to match you up with the correct color. For a cheap but great line of makeup, use Clinique. Your average foundation there is about 30 dollars.
For a young girl like you, I'd start with a mineral foundation. You'll get the coverage you need without it looking "cakey" or fake. You can go to the drug store and use brands such as L'Oreal or even CoverGirl. The mineral foundation will hide the redness around your cheek area and should provide moderate coverage of your blemishes. If you ever need extra coverage, go for a concealer stick...However, only put the concealer on the blemish, not around. Putting it around the blemish will draw attention to it.
As far as eye shadow goes, wear earthy tones that aren't so noticeable. If you're feeling daring, go for a deeper/lighter purple. That really makes darker eyes pop.
For mascara, use a good brand. You can't really prevent it from clumping but make sure you are putting on an even amount throughout your lashes. You may want to comb through your lashes before putting mascara on to make them even.
Lotion is not made mildly enough for facial use, most of the time. I suggest using Aveeno moisturizers with spf30. They are about $15 at a drugstore. The reason you want to your moisturizer is because it will help even out skin tone and prevent that "oily" feeling whenever you put on normal body lotion. SPF is very important to use in your daily regimen because it prevents the sun's harmful rays ruining your delicate young skin.
