What nib should a beginner in calligraphy use?
Someone gave me a whole lot of pen nibs a few years ago. I thought I'd finally give it a try, but I cant afford a class right now. I plan on getting some books tomorrow at the library.
I was just wondering what folks in here suggested.
For basic handwriting skills I would start with a C-2 or C-3 (Speedball) it's a medium or about 1/16 inch flat or chisel-end nib that's good for practicing. If your nibs aren't Speedball, just use whichever flat-edged nib is comfortable for you. The pointed and round-ended nibs are for drawing and different kinds of lettering.
