BEST MAKE-UP BRAND????????/?
Whats the best brand for eye shadow, lipgloss, foundation?? I heard Mac is amazing especially the eyeshadow, I have no idea whats the best brand, whats your opinion. I dont care about the price. Clinique, Estee Lauder, Too faced and Lacome???
It's rare for every product in a brand to suit your needs. I'll give some examples with pros and cons.
MAC: Enormous variety, constantly rotating collections. A bit pricey but worth the investment. I'd say their crowning achievements are their foundations (which is one of the best things to invest in) because they come in such a wide range of shades and formulas, but be careful because some people find they break out from them.
Clinique: Since they tend to focus more on skincare, Clinique doesn't have a whole lot of variety. However, as far as having just a few nice everyday products they're a great choice. Their Superbalms are a great cross between lipgloss and lipbalm, the Black Honey lip products are ridiculously flattering, and their mascaras are very nice if you tend to have sensitive eyes. Once again, a bit pricey but sometimes it's worth the investment.
Estee Lauder: EL actually owns MAC so their products are fairly similar, though EL is presented with slightly higher-end packaging. It's fairly expensive for what you get. I'd recommend sticking to MAC unless you want to splurge.
Too Faced: Has a couple of neat products but nothing much stands out to me. Similar price range to MAC and Clinique with a bit more focus on trendy makeup looks.
Lancome: One of the most expensive lines around. Honestly I don't think most of their products are worth the price tag. What few good products they have, such as rather nice lipsticks, are really investment pieces.
So. The real question is what are YOU looking for in your makeup? Do you want to have just a few pieces that you wear every day or for special occasions, or do you want a big variety?
To answer the question exactly as you asked it, my opinions:
Eyeshadow: MAC does make generally good products in an enormous variety, but I would honestly recommend trying products from BH Cosmetics (or Coastal Scents, which is the same thing with a different label). They make eyeshadow (and other) palettes at really great prices, which are great starter pieces and space savers. The quality is pretty good, and combined with a good primer (I recommend either Urban Decay Primer Potion or, if you want a real bargain with good quality, ELF's Mineral Eye Primer) they have great staying power and pigmentation.
Lipgloss: If you want something really moisturizing, try Clinique's Superbalms. They aren't very pigmented but they will really soothe and condition your lips. I also like ELF's Mineral and Minty lipglosses. The Mineral lipglosses are fairly good dupes for MAC... good pigmentation and non-sticky.
Foundation: MAC is probably the way to go for this since they have such variety. Clinique has some nice products if you have sensitive skin or don't need a lot of coverage. ELF recently came out with foundation from their Studio line which I like quite a lot, too, especially considering the price. One of the cult favorites, though, is Revlon's ColorStay foundation. It has very good coverage and comes in a formula for dry skin and one for oily, both with good shade selections (and it's cheap enough that you could actually buy two to blend if you can't find a close enough match).
