Cat Eye Makeup
Eyes are the window to the soul" was the Shakespearean era. In the present era eyes are the sexiest allure of your persona. They draw attention and make sure the attention is never lost. They are the latest Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD's) which can be further honed to perfection for that mass massacre of the breed called men. The strategic placement of your eyes makes it impossible for them to go unnoticed. And where a mere flutter of your eyes was enough to make men's hearts go aflutter, a smoky, sexy and seductive look is sure enough to leave them gasping for good. Afterall, eyes that were toxic in their simplicity can be downright lethal with help. Here help means the make-up palette. The latest addition to this devastation is a new look coming from the same palette of old weapons like eyeliner, mascara and eye shadow – the cat-eye look. A look for that purr-fect fatalism! Try these few tips to make it even more attainable.
How To Apply Cat Eye Makeup
You'll Require:
- Tweezers
- A 239 eye-shadow brush
- A fine-pointed liner brush like the 219
- Eye liner (preferably pencil based)
- Eye shadow palette
- Concealer
- Mascara
- Eyelash curler (optional)
- Cotton swabs for correcting faulty makeup
Preparation
- Clean your eye by plucking erratic hair from around your eyebrow.
- Wipe your eye and brush off plucked hair from the eyelashes and the brows.
- Apply concealer on the eyelid and under the eyes to take care of the dark circles.
Shadow Dance
- Using the 239, apply your neutral eye shadow on the entire eye-lid.
- Pick your highlight shade and apply it on the inner portion of the brow. Pull the brow outwards and trace the arch of the brow till the edge towards the temple.
- Now pick your matte shade and apply on the eye's crease while pulling the lid to ensure uniform application of the matte on the upper crease.
- The highlight colour and the matte will form clear layers on your eye. Brush out your matte to blend it with the highlight colour.
- Curl your eyelashes a little for a fuller look, if required.
Line Your Perfection
- Trace the edge of the upper eye-lid with a liner of your choice. Start lining from the centre and trace it to the edge while staying very close to the lashes. Create a thin look initially and then make it thicker later if you want.
- Once at the edge, change the angle of the liner upwards as if extending the lower lash towards the end of the brow and make the line as long as you like. Usually it is ¼ of an inch.
- Now connect the extended tip with your upper eyelash in a straight line while filling the resultant triangle with your eyeliner.
- Trace back the liner to the inner edge of the eye, thickening the liner if you want.
- Using the 219, apply your highlight colour towards the inner edge of your lower eyelid. Brush out the excess.
- Now line your lower lid with kajal or eyeliner.
- Apply 3-4 coats of your favourite mascara.
Final Touch-Ups
- Once you are done with all the above steps, wipe out all the extra makeup that shows off with a cotton swab and balance the look of both your eyes.
- If you want a further cleaner finish, use the 219 to brush on kajal or black creamy shadow on your eyebrow along its natural arch to give it a better-defined and neater look.
Tips
- Choose the eyeliner as per your comfort level. If you are trying this look for the first time then use good pencil eyeliner to avoid mistakes.
- If you're using liquid eyeliner then line your eyes before the eye-shadow work or else the liner will suppress the shadow work. Once done with the shadows then retrace the line if required for a brighter look.
- Try using brown matte shadow for the eye crease because gaudy or flashy shadows will hide the intricate play of the eyeliner, which defines this look.
- Never forget that the cat-eye look is based on the eyeliner and it should never be burdened with too much colour.
